Consistency is Nothing But Doing the Same Thing Again and Again

Okay, so first of all, forget everything you’ve seen about consistency on Instagram Reels.

Consistency is not what motivational reels make it look like. It is not waking up at 5 AM feeling super charged, drinking your coffee, and crushing it every single day with a big smile on your face.

No.

Consistency is doing the same thing again and again, even when it is boring. Even when there are zero results. Even when nobody is watching. Even when you feel absolutely nothing about it.

That’s it.

Let me give you an example: You join the gym. First week, you are on fire. You are showing up every day, hitting good numbers, eating better, and sleeping better. You start seeing small changes, and you feel like you are the main hero of the game.

Then around week four or five, something slowly starts changing. The excitement is gone. It feels like just another thing you have to do. The lifts feel heavy, your body is sore, you get busy, and then you skip one day. Then for some reason, that turns into a whole week.

And then you leave your membership to the gym owner (they made money).

Six months later, you join again. And the cycle starts again.

I have seen this happen to so many people, even my friends.

When I started building my website and my agency, none of it had instant results. I was working late nights, from morning till night, writing content nobody was reading, sending emails that got no replies, building systems that felt pointless because the revenue was not there yet. There were weeks where I genuinely asked myself what I was even doing.

But I kept showing up anyway.

Now coming to the actual work part: same client emails, same kind of problems to solve, same revision requests, over and over again.

But that repetition is not a sign that something is wrong. That repetition is the business. Showing up for it every single time, even when it feels like a wasteful day, is what keeps things moving.

Most people, even me in my starting days, want the results without the boring middle part. And the boring middle part is literally everything.

Here is what I have learned about consistency after years of doing this: It is not about motivation. Motivation comes and goes. Some days I sit down to work and feel genuinely excited. Other days I feel like doing absolutely nothing. But the work still gets done because I do not rely on how I feel to decide whether I show up or not.

Some days I write a blog post and I love it. Some days I write one and think it is average.

Consistency is really just the ability to not quit when you feel like quitting. And you will feel like quitting multiple times, sometimes on the same day. It happens to everyone, including me.

Think about it this way.

If you go to the gym even on days you hate it, for a year straight, you will be unrecognizable. If you write one blog every week for a year, even when you feel like skipping, you will have content that compounds over time. If you show up for your clients every day, even when the work feels routine, you build a reputation that no amount of marketing budget can buy.

Understand this: Results do not arrive suddenly. They add up quietly over time until one day someone looks at what you built and asks how you did it. And the real answer is always boring: you just kept doing it.

So if you are waiting to feel motivated before you start being consistent, you are going to be waiting for a very long time.

Start anyway. Show up anyway. Do the boring thing anyway. That is literally all it takes.

Remember this good old quote which still makes 100% sense: Consistency is the key to success.
