Yes, you read that right. You open Instagram and boom, hundreds of motivational speakers saying that you need to be awake for 28 hours a day to earn $5 million a day. Or you open LinkedIn and most people are just yapping that they got 696969% growth in 5 minutes by using Claude Code. “Comment CODE to get the free guide.”
And you comment on that post, then you receive one Notion or Google Doc with way too generic content that can easily be written by a 5-year-old using ChatGPT, and directly or indirectly they will be promoting their SaaS or business in that document.
And you never open that Notion or Google Doc ever again in your life. That’s just lost.
The same thing happens on Instagram as well. You see a reel where a person just yaps around giving you fake confidence that you can earn $10B in one day if you follow 5 simple steps. And for those 5 simple steps, they will ask you to check the caption below. You go and check the caption, and there you will see full generic content, then there will be an action keyword like “DM”. You just need to comment DM and the creator will send you their $10B money-making steps.
And you will receive a doc containing some basic stuff and a promotion to join their free webinar.
The same thing is happening all over the place. Our dopamine hits when we see somebody earning way too much with less effort, and our brain thinks that we can also do that.
Understand this: If they are making a ton of money online, then they will not be there creating content saying that you can earn money easily with 5 steps.
And I have a couple of questions.
Did you ever see Mukesh Ambani coming in reels and saying that you need to follow 5 easy steps to make millions?
Or Elon Musk?
Or Mark Zuckerberg, or even Sam Altman?
No, because they will not be creating stuff online and telling you the secrets that made them successful.
Nobody will tell you the business secrets, not even me.
Getting successful is hard, and that’s the truth nobody tells. And you need to figure it out by yourself. Nobody will spoon-feed you, if they are spoon-feeding you then you are just a pawn in their game.
Answer this: If I make content saying that business is hard, you need to put in a lot of time and effort, but still you may not get good results, then will you watch my content? Or will you reshare or comment?
No, you won’t.
But if I say, “Follow these 5 easy steps to earn $500 a month using your phone,” then you will watch my full reel, you will comment, share, etc.
And this is exactly why people are using these tricks and hooks to grab your attention, make you watch the full reel/short, and sell you their stuff.
In a way, they are just doing their business, and that is hard, I agree. But for viewers, it is just brain rot.
You see 100 motivational reels a day, but you won’t remember at least one after 40–50 minutes. Don’t worry, even I am like that sometimes because I am a Human, and our brains are designed to work this way.
My only suggestion is: just keep a limit on the motivational reels you watch every day. Or else you will get addicted to it, and you will think that watching motivational videos every day will make you rich. No, it won’t, and that’s the bitter truth.
Anyway, that’s all I got for you today. Until next time, stay strong and keep learning.
